ABOUT
Oluseyifunmi 'Debs' Akinlade is a Yoruba-American image maker based in Chicago. As someone whose identity crosses several intersections they are constantly trying to understand how each individually impacts their life. Their work explores personal identity through their thoughts and experiences as a black, queer and neurodivergent individual. Through the use of verité, reflexive storytelling and a minimalist cinematographic style they aim to establish a distinctive voice. They would like to invite others to see themselves in their films by focusing on universal themes such as intimacy, friendship, family and community while telling stories that are underrepresented.
